Protest on the day that South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Trust close SCBU, full maternity and 24/7 children's A and E at South Tyneside Hospital
Protest on the day that South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Trust plan to close SCBU, full maternity and downgrade children's A&E making it unavailable during the night.
Gather from 12pm to 1pm

Monday 5th August 2019

Outside South Tyneside Hospital

(at the Harton Lane entrance)
Children attending the local A&E have the same rights to a safe quality service as any other patient. With the pending closure of the overnight children's A&E we say again that this is not a “Path to Excellence”, it will put families with children at considerable risk in accessing this service at South Tyneside Hospital, it will force people to travel further and increase risks for urgent cases. We think that the loss of full maternity services and our Special Care Baby Unit will also mean further risks to expecting mothers in South Tyneside.
