Local Area Teams (LATs)
Last Updated: March, 2019

LATs are secretive and bureaucratic administrative teams created by the  2012 Health and Social Care Act . They report directly to and assist  NHS England . Unlike the  Strategic Health Authorities  replaced by NHS England and LATs, LATs do not report to the public who's health services are subject to their decisions. LATs have no formal structure of meetings or public access to their discussions. They publish no board papers and avoid serious engagement or consultation with the local public at any level other than the highest level of abstraction.

Funding of GP services is controlled nationally by NHS England and LATs.
